Building a community of innovators
We promote the idea that better outcomes can be achieved through innovation, a powerful tool that combines fresh ideas and novel thinking to tackle difficult problems; however, we also find that most people have misconceptions about what innovation is and how they use it.
At our core, we believe that what makes innovation possible is the mixing of ideas, and experiences from a variety of technical, social and business perspectives, which is why we base most of our activities on the concept of collaborative design, which is nothing more than a group process of problem solving.
what we do
Create opportunities to discuss & test ideas
The purpose of RECODE is to to grow a community of innovators by hosting activities and events to allow people to explore and solve problems through play to build their creative skills and confidence. Our programs are intended to diffuse innovation as participants apply what they learn at our session in their workplaces, classrooms and communities.
The idea of public innovation is not new, and you can find examples of it throughout history. From political debates in roman forums, new discoveries at renaissance academies, debating philosophy at enlightenment coffeehouses or exchanging ideas at homebrew computer clubs, what links these groups together is the sharing of knowledge and intersections of ideas through collaboration to generate breakthroughs that would otherwise not take place
We support innovation by giving people the skills and knowledge required to develop creative proposals that will benefit everyone. You can think of us as innovation a co-op that brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds to collaborate, exchange ides and generate solutions to common problems. In our view, innovation is a task best achieved by working together, not by reading about it or copying what someone else has done, but to by experiencing it!
I'm easy. Put me in an interesting location with good people and I'm there.

Multiple locations, one purpose
Just to make it clear, we move around a lot. We try to keep the same day and time but change the location on a regular basis. This is done on purpose to add variety and make our events more accessible to people and communities throughout the city by moving the location closer to them.
We try to keep things relatively close to the core, but we are also open to new venues, so if you’d like to suggest a venue or have a space you’d like to share with us, we would be happy to find new ways to collaborate, which is after all one of our driving principles.
Great things in business are never done by one person. They're done by a team of people.

Working with local public and private organizations
While most of our work is done by volunteers, we would also like to extend a big thank you to our partners and sponsors who make it all possible. Partners help our group by making venues available, providing expertise or donating their valuable time as events speakers. With that in mind, we welcome all types of organization or individuals to work with us so if you like to recommend or become a one, please make sure to get in touch with us.
